The purpose of this site is to promote discussion about the Air War in China during World War II. In no other theater did airpower feature as singularly important as it did in China. No other theater featured a smaller air force either. In 2010, Schiffer published my book The Forgotten Squadron:The 449th Fighter Squadron in World War II – Flying P-38s with the Flying Tigers, 14th Air Force. I meant the book to not only be a unit history of an undervalued but incredible squadron, but also a case study of Maj Gen Claire Chennault’s entire air war over China. I would like to discuss that project as well as future ones I’m working on, such as a project on photo reconnaissance.
